Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10
This policy explains what personal data Halvorsen & Reith (“we”, “the firm”) collects through this website, why, and what rights you have in relation to it. Contact for all data matters: info@hreithlaw.com.
What we collect
The site has one point at which you give us personal data: the enquiry form (and the equivalent e-mail address). Through it we receive the name, company and e-mail address you enter and the text of your question. The form also records the time of submission and the technical data needed to deliver the message. We do not ask for, and do not want, anything beyond what is needed to reply.
Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, requested page, time, browser type) for security and fault-finding. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and the site sets no cookies other than those strictly necessary for it to work (see the Cookie Policy).
Why we use it
We use enquiry data for one purpose: to answer your question and, where you ask us to, to discuss an engagement. The legal basis is the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract and, for the server logs, our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure. We do not use your data for marketing, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Who sees it
Enquiries are read by the firm’s lawyers and by the staff who handle intake. Messages are transmitted and stored by our e-mail and hosting providers, who process them on our instructions. We may be required to disclose data to a court or regulator where the law obliges us to.
How long we keep it
An enquiry that does not lead to an engagement is deleted within twelve months of our last exchange. Where an engagement follows, the correspondence becomes part of the matter file and is kept for the period professional and regulatory rules require. Server logs are kept for a short rolling period set by the hosting provider.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy in a portable form. Write to info@hreithlaw.com; we respond within the period the applicable law allows. You may also complain to the data protection authority competent for you.
Transfers and security
Because the firm advises on structures across many jurisdictions, your data may be read by firm personnel outside the country you write from. We apply the same confidentiality to every enquiry, and we use providers that encrypt data in transit and at rest.
Changes
We update this page when our practices change. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
